Swan Hills RCMP officers responded to a 911 call from a homeowner on Centennial Crescent during the early morning hours on May 10, after three unknown individuals entered a backyard without permission after opening a gate.
Police attended the area, but the individuals left before officers arrived.
RCMP said a video of the incident later circulated on social media and raised concern within the community. Through the investigation, police identified and located all three individuals involved.
A 23-year-old man from Barrhead, a 22-year-old man from Swan Hills and a 21-year-old woman from Swan Hills were charged under the Trespass to Premises Act.
RCMP reminded residents to secure valuables and ensure homes, vehicles, garages, sheds and other buildings remain locked. Police also encouraged the use of exterior lighting and security cameras where possible.
