Swan Hills School’s senior high track and field team competed at the SSA North Central Zone meet held May 20 at Foote Field in Edmonton.
The team travelled under the direction of Mr. Linger and took part in a range of events, including javelin, long jump, triple jump, discus, shot put, and the 100-, 200-, 400-, and 800-metre events.
Athletes Barrett Rolof, Jordyn Bruce, Ales Romeo, Iris MacDonald, Jhonny Ayangdo, and Mikey Steele represented Swan Hills in competition.
Jordyn Bruce qualified for provincials in Calgary, in early June after placing second in the 800-metre event and third in shot put. Mikey Steele also qualified for provincials in javelin, finishing third overall.
The team’s athletes were noted for their strong performances and for representing both their school and community at the event.
