The Swan Hills Snow-Goers were recognized at the Alberta Snowmobile Association Excellence Awards on October 17, receiving the Alberta Snowmobile Excellence Club award for the Northwest Zone.
The 2026 awards were held Saturday, October 17, and recognized volunteerism and achievements within Alberta’s snowmobiling community.
The Swan Hills Snow-Goers have been part of the local snowmobiling community since 1969, when a group of local snowmobile enthusiasts established the club.
The group originally started as a social gathering club before becoming involved in racing events. The club was later approached by forestry to take over the forestry trail system in the area.
More than 57 years later, the trail system has grown to approximately 450 kilometres. Dedicated volunteers continue to maintain and build the trail system for future generations.
The award recognizes the work and dedication of those volunteers and the continued efforts of the Swan Hills Snow-Goers.
