Students at Fox Creek School took to the outdoors this week as they participated in Earth Day cleanup activities, working together to help improve and maintain the school’s surrounding outdoor spaces.
The cleanup, originally planned closer to Earth Day, was delayed due to lingering snow cover that took longer than expected to melt. Once conditions improved, students were able to head outside and take part in the effort, focusing on collecting litter and helping restore the appearance of school grounds.
Staff noted the enthusiasm and effort shown by students as they worked together to keep their environment clean and well cared for. The activity formed part of ongoing efforts within the school to encourage environmental awareness and responsibility among students.
While the timing was later than intended, the school highlighted that the delayed start did not lessen student participation or pride in the work being done. The cleanup served as a practical reminder of seasonal challenges in northern communities, where weather conditions can impact outdoor activities well beyond spring’s official arrival.
The school expressed appreciation for the students’ contributions and their willingness to take part once conditions allowed, reinforcing the importance of caring for shared spaces and community environments.
