Valleyview Legion Branch #140 celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Legion on Saturday, at Legion Park in Valleyview.
The event brought together community members, veterans, and local leaders to honour a century of service by the Royal Canadian Legion. MLA Todd Loewen and Mayor Burke attended and congratulated Branch #140, thanking members for their ongoing contributions and dedication to the community.
Freson Bros supplied the food and drinks for the gathering and remained on site to assist with the event.
The Royal Canadian Legion was founded in 1926 to support veterans returning from the First World War and has since grown into one of Canada’s most important community organizations. For 100 years, Legion branches across the country have provided support for veterans and their families, raised funds for local causes, and created gathering places that strengthen community life.
In communities such as Valleyview, the Legion continues to play a vital role by hosting events, supporting local initiatives, and offering a place of connection and remembrance. The 100th anniversary celebration highlighted both the national significance of the organization and the steady work of Branch #140 in serving its own community.
