There’s a maze cut into the grass by St. Rita’s — and it’s tougher than it looks

By Valerie Winger

If you’ve driven past St. Rita’s Catholic Church on 51 Avenue in Valleyview lately, you might’ve noticed something new growing next door — a full-size grass maze, cut right into the field.

It’s the work of Toughy’s Handyman Services, and it’s open for anyone who wants to give it a try. Kids, parents, grandparents, the maze doesn’t care how old you are, just whether you can find your way through.

Bring a lawn chair if you’re not the one running the maze. There’s not a lot of shade out there, so a sunshade or umbrella isn’t a bad idea either. Plenty of people are just coming out to sit, watch, and cheer on whoever’s brave enough to tackle it.

If you make it through — or get hopelessly lost trying — snap a photo. People are sharing their runs online with the hashtag #ToughysHandymanServices.

The aerial shot making the rounds, showing the whole maze layout from above, was taken by Ken from Northstar.

The maze was built by Lawrence Tough, who put it together and is letting the whole community come use it. It’s a fun bit of extra effort on his part — cut right into the field, free for anyone who wants an afternoon out with the family.

So — have you got what it takes to beat the maze?
