Swan Hills grade two students get second look at Oobleck mystery

By Haylee Dianne

Swan Hills School grade two students celebrated Dr. Seuss Day at the beginning of March with a hands-on experiment involving Oobleck, inspired by the Dr. Seuss book Bartholomew and the Oobleck.

Students enjoyed making the Oobleck, though some were uncertain about its unusual texture. The experiment left an open question: was the substance a solid or a liquid?

The timing of the activity coincided with a period when students were out of the school building.

As grade two students wrapped up their Investigating Materials unit in June, they were given a second opportunity to explore the question and determine once and for all whether Oobleck is a liquid or a solid.
