Traffic stop in Whitecourt leads to drug seizure and charges

By Valerie Winger

Members of the Western Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit, with assistance from Whitecourt RCMP, arrested two individuals following a traffic stop in the Whitecourt area on April 30, 2026.

Police say a search of the vehicle conducted incidental to arrest resulted in the seizure of approximately 269 grams of cocaine and 152 grams of methamphetamine.

As a result of the investigation, Christopher Doucette, 44, of Fox Creek, and Jessica Hough, 33, of Whitecourt, were each charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Police also say Hough was arrested on an outstanding warrant and additionally charged with failure to comply with a court order.

Hough was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody, while Doucette was released on conditions.

Both are scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie, with Hough set to appear May 11, 2026, and Doucette scheduled to appear July 14, 2026.

None of the allegations have been proven in court.
